Sprayway Outdoor Gear Fair Wear Foundation Sprayway Kyrre Women's Waterproof Hiking Jacket with Hood uses two layer Hydro/Dry 75 D Polyester Oxford, waterproof, windproof fabric with excellent improved breathability for greater comfort when perspiring in this hiking jacket. Laminated inside the Oxford fabric the waterproof membrane is protected on the inside by a polyester mesh and smooth taffeta nylon lining which aids breathability. Taped seems are used throughout to ensure the jacket is fully waterproof. A Durable Water Repellent DWR coating is applied to the surface fabric to aid breathability by helping to stop the surface fabric from wetting out when its raining. Durable Taffeta lined zipped pockets are positioned high enough so they can be used when carrying a rucksack with hip belt. An inner chest pocket with Velcro style fastening is great for your phone. The hood has a wired peak, volume adjuster and elastic cord around the face aperture with non-whip toggles for adjustment.  The stylish reversed front zip is protected by an inner storm flap to keep out the rain. The waterproof, super breathable material used allows your sweat to escape so you can stay dry and comfortable whilst hill walking, hiking, mountain trekking, backpacking, or camping

Features & Benefits

  • The new improved Sprayway Hydro-Dry two layer 75 D Oxford Polyester fabric is waterpoof, windproof and highly breathable. An inner waterproof, breathable membrane layer is protected on the outside by a hard wearing, plain weave 75 D polyester on the outer face and a polyester mesh combined with a nylon taffeta lining on the inside.  With a minimum hydrostatic head of 10,000 mm and very impressive breathability of 15,000 gms/sq m/24 hrs the fabric is able to remove perspiration at a rate which rivals the performance of Gore-Tex.
  • The outer surface of the material is treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) surface treatment. This helps to prevent the surface of the material from wetting out when it rains and therefore enables perspiration vapour to escape from the inside more easily when its raining.
  • Fully taped seams with durable seam tape ensures full waterproof protection.
  • Designed for walking and hiking, this jacket has a back length of 76cm for size 12 with enough room underneath for winter layering.
  • Drop tail for butt protection at the back and unrestricted leg movement at the front.
  • This tough, durable jacket weighs in at only 450 gms ( 15.9 oz) for size 12 which is less than half the weight of a bag of sugar.
  • Two zipped side pockets with a silky smooth, durable nylon taffeta lining.
  • Pocket zips protected by storm flaps for outstanding performance in keeping out the rain.
  • A stylish full length reversed front zip with internal storm flap to keep out the rain.
  • An internal chest pocket with velcro style fastening is great for your phone.
  • Cuffs are partly elasticated with Velcro adjustment tabs to keep out the drafts. These tabs can be used easily when wearing gloves or mitts.
  • The bottom hem has an elasticated draw cord front and back. There is a toggle on each side where the elastic can be tightened to keep out the drafts.
  • Hood with wired peak attached which can be rolled away using a velcro tab when not in use.
  • The hoods reinforced wired peak keeps out driving rain. The hood also features an excellent system for adjusting the elasticated draw cord around the face aperture. A toggle can be held down between finger and thumb whilst the elasticised cord is adjusted, fabric guides prevent the cord from being whipped into your face by the wind.
  • The velcro volume adjuster at the back of your head enables the hood to be adjusted to give the optimum vision / protection from rain combination.
  • Chin guard with micro-fleece lining at the top of the internal storm flap gives excellent comfort on your face. This stops facial hair from being caught in the zip.
  • Sprayway embroidered logo, a great sign of quality.
  • All Sprayway garments are produced in factories which meet the standards set by the Fair Wear Foundation with safe working conditions, no child labour, fair pay, limited hours, no forced labour, a proper contract and the right to form associations for the purposes of bargaining with their employers.

Technical Specifications

Weight Only: 450gms (15.9 oz) for size 12

  • Sprayways new improved two layer Hydro / Dry 75 D Oxford Polyster fabric is guaranteed to keep you dry and will hold back a column of water 10 metres high without leaking i.e. the Hydrostatic head is 10,000 mm. There is a breathability rating or MVTR (Moisture Vapour Transfer Rate) of 15,000 g per square metre every 24hrs. So if your jacket is made from 1.3 square metres of material, it will transfer 19.5 litres of perspiration every 24 hrs.
  • The fabric used, has a hard wearing plain weave 75 D Polyester face with the waterproof membrane layer laminated on the inside, this is protected by a polyester mesh lining for enhanced breathability with a tough taffeta nylon lining where necessary.
  • The outer surface of the material is treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) surface treatment. This prevents the surface of the material from wetting out when it rains and therefore enables perspiration vapour to escape from the inside even when its raining.
  • The DWR will wear off in time and is best replenished every six months or so when the garment is washed. This can be done using the reproofing products supplied by Nikwax and Grangers. See this video for Garment Care: Using Nikwax Tech Wash and TX.Direct Re-Proofer
